TED – The Most Inspiring Global Portal I Have Seen ~ Max Strom
I have said for many years that the TED phenomenon is one of the bright rays of hope for the future. I discovered the online TED talks in 2006 and have been an avid fan ever since. Now, with the thousands of TEDx talks such as this one, there is a full head of steam going now, as evident by the 15,000 people who tried to purchase 1,500 tickets to the Kansas City event in August. The next TEDx KC event will need to be in a small stadium – and then the next one…??? I believe that in just a year or two from now, TED may reach a Zeitgeist moment that will turn the course of events in this world for the better. It is trans-national, trans-religious, trans-racial, and trans-corporate.
Technology, Entertainment, Design.
Since then its scope has become ever broader. Along with two annual conferences — the TED Conference in Long Beach and Palm Springs each spring, and the TEDGlobal conference in Edinburgh UK — TED includes the award-winning TEDTalks video site. See free podcasts here:
During the twin tragedies of the Asian tsunami and Hurricane Katrina, Ipswich water-treatment expert Michael Pritchard winced helplessly at televised coverage of throngs of refugees waiting for days for a simple drink of clean water. Stricken by the chronic failure of aid agencies to surmount this basic challenge, Pritchard decided to do something about it.

If African Elephants don’t become extinct in our lifetime, it will be a miracle. – Be part of that miracle.
I’m sharing an event with you that is very close to my heart. You may or may not know that I am a passionate elephant conservationist. Of course, there are thousands of other species on the endangered list, but besides the fact that I adore elephants, there is particular importance in selecting a creature such as the elephant. As with the tiger, to save the elephant, we have to save its habitat which is also home to many other threatened species. So if we save the elephant, we will also save many other species at the same time.
35-40,000 elephants are killed each year. If African elephants don’t become extinct in our lifetime it will be a miracle. Be part of that miracle and adopt an elephant. ~ Max Strom
