Intro to Inner Axis

2HRS ( 1HR 15MIN practice, 40MIN lecture, 5MIN break between)

Max Strom’s interdisciplinary system, Inner Axis, deals directly with stress, anxiety, and burnout, and produces a level of fitness that makes you sleep better at night, feel better during the day, and therefore function at a higher level in your relationships and your life-work. Inner Axis incorporates breath-based yoga movement and mindfulness, and every class offers several levels to accommodate your capacity. Because of its success across the world, Inner Axis is now being adopted by corporations as a sustainable wellness program.

In this workshop we will be exploring the essential elements of this sustainable life practice. All fitness levels are welcome and will feel at home. The session will consist of a lecture followed by a practice of breath initiated movement and healing patterns of yoga postures.

Opening the Chest & Shoulders

Some of the negative side effects of using a computer are that we find ourselves with frozen shoulders, sore forearms, and injured wrists. This workshop targets these issues with a special sequence of postures that opens the chest and shoulders, as well as the entire boy. This induces an emotional sense of release, brings the mind into stillness, and the body into a new state of energy. Open to all levels except absolute beginners. This movement workshop is both challenging and very healing.

This evening workshop deals directly with the modern plague of sleeplessness and stress.  In America, the Center for Disease Control has declared sleep disorder an epidemic, and this is happening in industrial cities across the world. This workshop will help you re-think your priorities and give you knowledge to take home with you to help you sleep and live more at ease. This workshop begins with a lecture, and then moves into a gentle restorative sequence of postures and gentle movement that immediately trigger deep relaxation. Simple, powerful accessible. Max will give you knowledge to take home with you to help you live more at ease with improved sleep. All levels are welcome. Bring writing materials.

The intent of yoga is not only to increase our strength and flexibility, but also to promote health and vitality.  The next layer is to transform our behavior from coarse to gracious, and to transform even our very thoughts, from chaos to beauty.  Experience Max Strom’s unique yoga practice, called, Inner Axis, with emphasis on emotional transformation. How does the way we breathe affect our stress level, anxiety, quality of sleep, and even our relationships? Breath penetrates, breath invigorates, and breath heals. The effect of Max’s breath work can lead to profound release and calm. Other benefits may include increased energy and mental clarity. This works so quickly and effectively that Max has successfully brought his unique breathing program into the corporate world.  Class will include a lecture, simple but high impact breathing exercises; very gentle breath-initiated movement, and guided meditation.

The Healing Power of Forgiveness

Forgiveness is perhaps the most powerful tool we have for healing ourselves.  To forgive another, heals oneself, just as anger toward another poisons oneself.  Anger and resentment destroy our lives.  For the body to heal, often times what is most vital is to heal the broken heart or spirit.   Failure to forgive affects our stress level, power to heal the body, discernment, and all our relationships. The first part of this seminar is a powerful lecture on forgiving others; the second part will address forgiving oneself.   Max has taken the message of forgiveness around the world to a people of many faiths and nationalities. Bring your mat and writing materials.  Appropriate for all levels.

This seminar offers an inspiring and insightful talk by Max based on the ideas of his new book, There is No App for Happiness, followed by a concise course in essential internal technologies for transformation. Max will ask ten questions, you will be asked to write down the answers, and these answers will illuminate your inner life.  This work, simple in its nature astonishes those who take the class. The insight you will gain cannot be purchased or found a book or university. Insight you gain will be from within yourself.
