05 Oct Online – Set Boundaries and Live Freely
Are you able to set healthy boundaries? In saying yes to others, we often say no to ourselves. Sometimes the greatest act of love can be to say no. For yourself and for those around you. Setting boundaries causes people to trust us and respect us. These are key elements to a meaningful relationship.
Most of us have never been taught how to create boundaries and sustain them. We believe that by saying no, by sticking up for ourselves, people may no longer like us, or worse; shun us. We didn’t learn that boundaries, together with kindness and decency, are indispensable to pave the road to connection, friendship and intimacy.
Being crystal clear about who you really are is vulnerable and it takes courage. It will also set you free of worrying, overthinking, misunderstandings and people having to guess what it is you truly want and need. Sustaining loving relationships requires that we define our boundaries with kindness and firmness, while at the same time protect those we love from our own anger.
Suggested props: make sure you can sit comfortably either on a straight back chair or on the floor. Bring writing materials.
